Introducing....

Today we got 4D pictures of Austyn Thomas. Oh, and we officially decided that Austyn is going to be the name. So anyways here is our new bundle of joy, my little monkey:

YES he is completely healthy and has all his fingers and toes. I can't wait for him to be part of our lives on the outside. Seeing him right now feels surreal. To have such a graphic image in your head of a baby that is moving in your belly, is so wonderful. You can also see him here. Click on images and then look under my last name.

shower and bink

I recently had my baby shower. It was so wonderful! We had it at a local coffee house. And no just in case you were wondering, and remembered, I'm not nauseated by the smell of coffee this time like I was with the last pregnancy. Which trust me was a relief to more than just me. Nicky and Lindsay were able to rent out the facility after hours so we had a very happening party on Friday night. I should have some pictures soon. So stay tuned. I was just so incredibly blessed by everyone who was able to come. Plus I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! I'm not a "shower" like person. Meaning I don't really like to play the ridiculous games that would be completely embarrassing if they were ever seen by anyone not there.

So they passed around little papers for people to write advise to me or encouragement for the new baby. Some people wrote very sentimental things others wrote things that were funny. I have a friend Carla who wrote "Don't let Nelly beat you up. (It doesn't look good to the other boys on the playground.)". And shortly after we did a thing called 'The ABC's of Advice'. Basically everyone received a letter and had to list an advice emphasizing or starting with that letter. It was hilarious because the people who started the alphabet hadn't really had time to think of anything yet. So the first one was "Always make sure his pee-pee is covered when you change his diaper", followed by "Be sure to cover his pee-pee when changing his diaper", then "Cover the pee-pee when you change his diaper", and "Don't forget to cover the pee-pee." It was hilarious hearing people desperately try to incorporate their letter while they used the same advice, I laughed so hard I started crying. And yes I did eventually get more advice then to just cover his pee-pee, but the person who ended the alphabet was able to use it again. Poor little boy he's going to be so embarrassed about all these women talking about his pee-pee. LOL.

Also! We took the pacifier away from Nelly. We had been planning it for a while. I wanted to do it in August but I worked a couple of weekends and we had some other family commitments that we weren't able to have a weekend free. So we decided this weekend to do it. Today was the first day and we started with having her go over to a friend Hattie's house to give it to her 7 month old son, Caden. We had been talking to Penelope about it for a week before hand and all day today before we made it over there. She did really well at handing them all over to Caden when it was time. And we explained to her that the binky is for babies and she's not a baby anymore she is a big girl. She has asked for it several times today but we continue to tell her that it is only for babies and she is a big girl. Already tonight she is able to tell it to you that the binky is for baby.

She has had a little trouble with her nap/bedtime recently. She has gotten exceedingly well at opening doors. She had been able to open them before but now she does it so easily she is able to get out of the room during nap time instead of staying in the bedroom. It's like a game for her lately that lasts about an hour after we put her down. Where we put her down and she lets herself out and we catch her and then she runs back into her room giggling and screaming. No amount of yelling and spanking has given her the hint that staying awake isn't as fun as you think it is. Getting rid of the pacifier really only compounded the problem. So we have to buy door knob covers for around the house. Well during nap time she only really cried for her "binky" for about 5 minutes after she had been exhausted from getting in and out of her room. Tonight she is just now falling asleep after about an hour of struggling with her from getting in and out of her room and there is no talk about "binky". So I'm hoping that it won't be too bad of a struggle. At least I'm praying really hard it won't be too bad of a struggle.

singer and pianist

I've been trying to get video of Nelly and some of the new stuff that she is doing. Like she is able to sing the ABC's most of the time she doesn't say every single letter correctly, but there has been a few times when she has gotten it all right. And she has other songs that she likes, such as "Row, Row, Row your boat" or even "Hosanna". It is soo cute! But as soon as she sees the camera she stops and wants to have the camera. It doesn't work to well for an encore. Anyways here are some clips of the ABC song that I was able to cetch and her playing the piano.
